Carbide Wear Plates & Cutting Rings for Concrete Pumps
Tungsten carbide spectacle wear plates and cutting rings for S-valve concrete pumps, made to your part number, old part or drawing.
On an S-valve concrete pump, the spectacle wear plate and the cutting ring seal the swing tube against the two pumping cylinders. Each time the pump switches cylinders, the ring slides across the plate under pressure while sand and aggregate scour both faces, so the two parts wear together. Tungsten carbide on the working faces is one of the ways to make the pair last longer in abrasive mixes.
Typical applications
- Truck-mounted boom pumps with an S-valve (swing tube)
- Trailer and stationary concrete pumps with an S-valve
- Replacement wear sets for scheduled service and pump rebuilds
What we supply
- Spectacle wear plates (also called wear plates or eyeglass plates) with a carbide working face
- Cutting rings (also called wear rings) with a carbide working face
- Plates and rings as matched sets, or either part on its own
- Made to the original part number, to the old part with measurements, or to your drawing
Choosing the grade
The plate and ring take sliding abrasion from the concrete, plus impact from aggregate and from the back pressure that keeps them sealed. The carbide therefore needs toughness as well as hardness, and it must stay bonded to the steel body. Tell us the pump, the mixes you pump and how long the current parts last, and we will propose the construction and grade.
Grade data (binder content, grain size, hardness, density, transverse rupture strength) is confirmed in writing for the grade we propose. How we choose grades →
For a fast quotation, send
- Pump make and model, and the S-valve size (for example DN200 or DN230)
- Original part number, or photos of the old plate and ring with outside diameter, bore and thickness
- Plate, ring or both
- Quantity, and how often you replace them
Questions buyers ask
Should the wear plate and the cutting ring be replaced together?
They seal against each other, so a new part running on a worn, grooved face will not seal well. That is why they are often changed as a set. If one part is still flat and unscored, tell us and we can quote either part on its own.
Can you make them without a drawing?
Often yes. Send the original part number, or photos of the old parts with the main measurements, and the pump make and model. We will confirm what else we need before quoting.
Why does the gap between the plate and the ring matter?
After fitting, the clearance between the plate and the ring has to be set as the pump manual specifies. If it is wrong, concrete paste leaks between the faces and both parts wear faster. Follow the manual for your pump when you fit a new set.
